River Valley Sound (RVS) is sponsored by the 728 Cadets and features talented students from District 728 schools, including Elk River, Rogers, and Zimmerman. Student musicians are provided further opportunities for music and performance experience and growth in the winter months.

RVS combines traditional marching band instrumentation, marching, dance, and visual performers to create an indoor ensemble for students grades 7–12. A wind ensemble can include flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto tenor and bari sax, trumpet, mellophone, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. Students should have one year of playing experience.
